Brushless Gimbal Motor ControllerThis controller accepts standard 1-2ms RC signals, allowing anyone to easily control a brushless gimbal motor bidirectionally with an RC receiver.
Discontinued-replaced by BGMC2
OverviewThis motor controller allows a single brushless gimbal motor to be controlled by any RC receiver channel (1-2ms PWM signal), much like you would control a standard RC servo or ESC. Brushless gimbal motors have very high positional accuracy like a servo, but are capable of higher speeds as well. The BGMC allows anyone to harness the unique properties of brushless gimbal motors for any application, opening up a new world of possibilities.
Brushless Gimbal Motor TechnologyThe RoverTec BGMC is a new take on technology that has been used for the past several years in camera gimbals. Brushless gimbal motors are different than the typical brushless motor used to drive an airplane propeller, car drivetrain, etc. They are wound to have a very high resistance, allowing them to be driven in such a way that gives them precise positional control, within fractions of a degree! Unlike typical high-speed brushless motor controllers, the BGMC uses a PWM sin wave to drive the motor, enabling super smooth and precise motion. Brushless gimbal motors are driven much like a stepper motor, only they are lighter, faster, quieter and smoother.
Unique Properties of brushless gimbal motors include:
The BGMC has many potential uses. It can be used as a "servo to brushless converter", to allow servo-gimbal-controller channels to function as a brushless-gimbal-controller. The ability to bypass a gearbox entirely allows the BGMC to drive a brushless gimbal motor in high stress applications without fear of wear and tear or breakage. This allows motorized elements to become more impact-resistant. Brushless gimbal motors driven by the BGMC can also be used as direct drive wheels for a robot, or vehicle of any kind.
The BGMC is capable of driving any size brushless gimbal motor, from tiny 2206 motors all the way to the gigantic 100mm+ motors designed for large camera gimbals.
Note: The BGMC is only intended for use with brushless gimbal motors, which are specially wound and have a high resistance. As a rule of thumb, do not use this controller with any brushless motor that does not have a servo plug output.
